I remember when this was built some time in the late seventies - I'm guessing. it was such a big deal because it was thought of as a skyscraper, unusual for these parts. my husband just told me the original plan was to build four of them.
today super sized strip malls surround it.

Very unusual (for me, at least) yellow glass. If you didn't say otherwise, I would have thought this was standing alone in the middle of nowhere.
Have a happy weekend!
Beautiful reflections, and a beautiful sky!
All those big malls make me sad. I long for little old fashioned mom and pop stores.
«Louis» had forgotten about the Levittowns. Do you know how many were built? Isn't there also one in Pennsylvania?
Very nice as always.
All the best

The reflections of the sky and clouds are lovely.
It does look like an icon to the 1970's and not what the world thinks of in levittown!

Louis -- there are 4 of them, but the one here on LI was the first.
Lily -- since this hamlet and I are about the same age, I remember when there wasn't a single mature tree to be found there. Not crazy about our strip malls, but like it that there aren't a lot of tall buildings on LI.
Yes, it's funny what people call skyscrapers. When I first moved here, my husband called the building he worked in, which had 10 floors, a skyscraper.
I'm sure when they built it SOMEONE thought it was beautiful... ah progress?
Lovely cloud reflection, and the sky is so open. But this is definitely not what I picture when I think of Levittown! Kathy
the clouds are gorgeous
there are a few of those skyscrapers here in NJ too
That's a really nice shot. I like the sky and the way the building shines from the sun.
I thought Levittown was a complex of small one family homes ...
Down in FL where my parents had their condo there were 2 kinds of buildings .. garden apartments which were two stories tall and high rises which were 4 stories tall . the high rises looked like what I thought/imagined military barracks looked like.. my aunt was highly insulted when I told her that.
It does have that 70s look! But you did a good job here with the reflections!
Dramatic shot of an ordinary building in Levittown no less. The sky and the lighting on the glass are what make this shot.
Beautiful sky and interesting building. The glass makes a lovely reflection.
The light on the building is perfect
interesting background. cool shot.

lovely reflections in the windows
I love the way the whole building takes on the color of the windows. You'll have to snap this again on a blue sky day.
