A perfect gift for the person who loves licorice

Licorice-at-Myzel's-Chocolate-in-NY

Funnily enough, the perfect licorice can be found at Myzel's Chocolate.  & One of the really neat things about living on Long Island is the close proximity to Christmas shopping in Manhattan. Ian brought this goody bag home for his Dad last year and he reported that it was one of those rare little shops that has miraculously stayed in business for years. He also said the people who worked there were super friendly and helpful. I plan on visiting Myzel's this holiday season and though I will buy some licorice for sure, I will definitely keep you posted on how good the chocolate is too.

Weather Report

A-Very-Rainy-Autumn-Long-Island-Day

It rained the entire day here and I'm not complaining either. I loved it actually. Besides, it could have very easily been like this - the same street five years ago in January.

Eiffel Tower and the Long Island Expressway

The-Eiffel-Tower-and-The-Long-Island-Expressway

I often wonder how many other people notice this mini Eiffel Tower while driving the Long Island Expressway into Manhattan. I wish the designers of this structure made it taller instead of so compressed. Check out this far taller and more elegant looking Eiffel tower I spotted at Home Depot a couple of years ago.

Autumn Sunset Over the L.I.E.

I hate to say this but I am dreading our impending winter. I don't feel like being cold for the next six months.
Oh New York...if only I didn't love you so much.

A Walk through One of my Favorite Places on Long Island

Uplands-Farm-in-Cold-Spring-Harbor-on-Long-Island

As you can see there are blue skies and plenty of beautiful color left here. This nature sanctuary is a perfect respite from all that is busy & hectic on Long Island. I hike here as often as I can which is not as much as I would like too!  I always feel so rejuvenated after a good hike in the woods.

At Least We Still Have Cooperstown

Autumn-in-Cooperstown-NY

I really wanted the Mets to win last night. I guess I was prone to this years fever like every other New Yorker I spoke too. Cooperstown is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. It is the quintessential idyllic American town with beautifully maintained old homes like this one you see pictured above. I should say that although I visited the Hall of Fame, the main reason I traveled to Cooperstown was to see my brother in law get married to the love of his life (& their wedding was exactly how many would imagine an Autumn wedding in Cooperstown to be).
Maybe next year The Mets will win.
