I wish they had these on long island. there probably isn't enough foot traffic to support them. I asked the woman who was sitting inside if I could take her picture but she wouldn't let me.
Those stands are slowly but surely vanishing from Paris streets and it is very sad !! Crisis, they say, but Internet too !! Less people read, so buy, news papers and magazines so it doesn't pay enough to make a living !
I love newstands ~ hope the ones in Paris stay around for a long time. Much as I love reading online, there is nothing like holding a magazine or book and reading it.
I like news stands too. But can you imagine working inside of one all day long? At one time I did work in a little photo booth for a while, but there were windows on both sides. I think this would be very claustrophobic.

We won't have them in Brooklyn much longer, you know. The quirky little newsstands are being replaced by mass-produced, standardized, homogenized stainless steel newsstands.
