This Morning's Snow

Somehow I didn't know we would wake up to snow this morning. I guess this is what happens when
one doesn't follow the weathermen.

It's FREEZING outside!

Though I must say I do believe the snow makes the bitter cold more tolerable. Just imagine if it were 12 degrees outside without any blue sky or snow on the ground, like this for instance. Yes, I believe I like the scene pictured above much better.

big changes in farmingdale

I can't say I'm happy about this. Actually this exact site in particular doesn't bother me but the construction site across the street located inside the train station's parking lot does. A huge building is being constructed there that seems too close to the train station. As of now, the roads surrounding the construction site are a complete mess making it very difficult for commuters to get back and forth to the train. My only hope is that in the end, the roads will be nicely redesigned improving traffic as well as pedestrian flow.
In other news, as you may have already noticed by this blue sky pictured above, the sun is out.

waiting for the sun

This morning's portrait of Saint Kilian's is a far cry from this previous one back in 2011.

Shade Lover

This gloomy rainy wintry weather we've been having seems to always turn my attention to anything remotely alive. I wish I could remember the name of this plant I purchased from a nursery quite some time ago. Every now and then it loses all of its growth completely only to sprout up new stems and leaves and then flowers soon follow. I've featured this plant on my instagram page in black and white over here.

is it too early to be thinking of spring?

I know, yesterday I was still pining for christmas. Then last night I took our tree down and suddenly I am over all the pining - as well as all the pine needles that needed to be dislodged from the living room carpet. This morning's darkening cloud cover and rain made me long for spring. Fortunately we have flowers such as these to inspire us until then.

am I the only one still hanging onto Christmas?

do you believe this is a real building? it's known as the fleur de lys studio. we were at a stoplight in quick moving traffic when I  handed my iphone to anthony hoping he'd manage to capture the colors being illuminated by the sun. he did so rather nicely I thought.  I love how you can see just a bit of the wreath peeking out of the corner. thanks anthony.

priscilla and the blizzard of 2014

I was standing in the pathway anthony shoveled for her, watching as she ran back and forth when suddenly I felt a little body brush the side of my leg as she pushed past me - just seconds after I shot this.

a proper goodbye to 2013

a gorgeous way to end the year I thought as I noticed the sky providing a stunning last sunset. one hour later I exited the gym seeing there was still some light left in the sky - another pleasant surprise.
