it's official...

please click on photo to see lights up close

the day after thanksgiving means, for at least most retail stores, the beginning of the christmas season. this christmas tree stands in the village of farmingdale and decorations are beginning to pop up everywhere else as well. today is also known as "black friday", a phenomenon explained here. how do you plan on spending the day after thanksgiving?

today is skywatch friday, if you'd like to see more skies from all around the world or if you'd like to add your own sky, please go here, thanks to klaus and his team, sandy, wren, fishing guy, louise and sylvia.

Aren't retail stores and their sales just the most boring of schedules. We don't have Thanksgiving here in Australia, so our Christmas sales and decorations have been up for weeks now.

I like the moon in your shot.

Who follows schedules? I see so many Xmas decorations up way too early in the US. But this tree IS pretty!

For me it's Buy Nothing Day. A day to stay off the roads and out of the stores. Our materialism and rush to get out there and accumulate more embarrasses and saddens me.

I'm with Bobbie! I won't leave my house today and plan on just hanging out with my kids watching a couple Christmas movies and putting up some decorations! I LOVE this time of year and I despise Black Friday!
Oh my ... I'm not ready to think about Christmas just yet. Like Bobbie, I won't be doing any shopping today. It's just too crazy out there ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

I didn't know about Black Friday - now I'm educated!

This is a lovely Christmas tree - all twinkly and almost natural. The moon really sets it off to advantage!

Yes, this is definitely my day to day off the streets, out of stores etc. Ah, but we have sun today! so I will get out just no where near a mall!

Love your shot of the tree and moon!

Have a great weekend! Enjoy!

Hi everyone!
For all the hype I hear about "black Friday" the funny thing is, most people I know do not go shopping on this day!
Personally I stay out of the stores because I don't like waiting on long lines. I'd rather do what shopping I have to do when there are less crowds.
For some reason, I am extra excited about Christmas this year so I am totally psyched to decorate. I think I must have the Christmas spirit.

This Bobi agrees with Bobbie also. I'm enjoying thinking about yesterday, all the love we felt at our family Thanksgiving dinner. I never shop on this weekend, unless it's for food.

Very charming picture, Lily, with the decorated tree and the moon over there in a deep blue evening sky. I like it so much.
Happy weekend!
