An Ocean of Forsythia

Karen from Alameda California recently wrote asking if I could photograph the Forsythia along the Meadowbrook Parkway. She described it so beautifully I thought I would post a part of what she wrote here.
"...I have always loved seeing the forsythia in bloom along the Meadowbrook Parkway behind Roosevelt Field.  It has always reminded me of waves breaking on the shore of Jones Beach or Fire Island.  Out here in Northern California, forsythia bushes are few and far between and I would love to be able to see that sight again."
So my son Ian and I drove to the parkway and he filmed exactly what karen was talking about.

How pretty. Your forsythia reminds me a lot of the Scotch Broom that grows here. Although Scotch Broom is a weed and most people don't like it because it takes over, I have always thought it was pretty.

Two minds with a single thought, eh? And yours moves! Haven't traveled that road at this time of year in a very long while, so thanks!

So beautiful! It puts me in mind of the lavender ice plant that grows for miles along the Monterey Bay in May on the west coast.

As a child, our driveway was lined with forsythia. I never see the same type here though. The big old bushes drooped down to the ground, forming spaces inside themselves. We used them as rows of "houses" and played house under them.

Excellent!
Indeed, forsythia is not common out here on the Left Coast...

Thank you so much!!! It's just as I remembered, except that the trees are a little taller. :) I'm so glad that others are enjoying it as well. Spring has definitely "sprung"!
