I will miss you Bobbie...

it is with a heavy heart that I write this. a dear friend and fellow blogger of mine, bobbie from "almost there" passed away this last saturday. her daughter Kitty wrote a very moving post about her on bobbie's blog that you can see here.
when bobbie first started visiting my blog she used to have a picture of herself from her childhood as her icon, something we have in common since I do as well. after awhile she switched it to marigolds, one of my favorite flowers. her nickname is bobbie which also happens to be my own mother's nickname. & coincidentally my mom was also born in march just two years later.
almost two years ago I "met" bobbie for the first time on long island daily photo. she had joined the 'skywatch meme' I participate in every friday and left this comment july 25, 2008,

bobbie said... "I saw "LI Daily Photo" and had to take a look. I lived in Massapequa for 30 years.
This is a really great shot. Just beautiful!"

the photo below is the one she was referring too.

last holiday season I held a giveaway at this blog. it was a calendar of photos taken from my blog and bobbie won. when my son ian picked her name from the hat I remember feeling so happy it was bobbie because I knew she used to live on long island (another thing we have in common) and always enjoyed visiting my blog and seeing the different places she remembered.

bobbie left her last comment here on monday, the day she suffered a heart attack.

"A fantastically beautiful shot!"

this is not surprising, she always encouraged me, always left a nice comment or a thought provoking one, an honest person who didn't think twice about sharing her opinion when it came to advocating for one of the many good causes she believed in.

bobbie, I will miss seeing your marigold icon on my comments page. thanks for always being there these last two years. and like your daughter kitty wrote, "...you have arrived.".
& though I am happy for you in that respect, you should also know you will be sorely missed.

Kitty's words, Dianne's words, your words ... all have brought tears but I also keep hearing Bobbie telling me its not sad it was time ... she touched so many people's lives in so many ways ... I am glad she is with Ralph again ... she is definitely there.

You are so right about this Daryl. I think Dianne was right when she wrote that theirs was "...one of the great love stories".

Lovely tribute to a lovely person. You're so right, Bobbie was always so encouraging and never failed to lift my spirits. Of course, she's still working her catalytic magic now as she has brought me here for the first time.

I think we all feel the same about Bobbie and how much she meant to all of us and how much she will be missed. I'm glad she's with Ralph again, too, and I have no doubt that they are smiling down on all of us and theirs was, "one of the great love stories". I was so very moved to get that email from Kitty that Bobbie had asked her to send to a number of us. We're all fortunate to have had her touch our lives.

oh dear. How sad and sudden.

It's incredible what bonds one can find through these daily postings. My thoughts to Bobbie's family and all those her life touched.

What a touching tribute to your friend—as is her daughter's. I think Bobbie would be pleased.

Sad to read.

Heart attacks in women are under-reported.

This is for you, Lily.

I didn't know Bobbie, but found out about her passing through Paz, the woman who connected me to you. This is a beautiful tribute to Bobbie.
