bunny rabbits in garden city

please click on photo to enlarge

and there are lots of them. it isn't unusual to see more than one hanging out together on someones lawn eating grass. this home actually had a rabbit that had babies on their property. when I got too close to this one, she hopped away flashing her little cottontail from behind. we don't have any bunnies in our long island neighborhood. I usually just see them on nature trails or by the beaches, so this is a rare treat!

One of my strongest memories of Long Island was from a few days spent at Marjorie Merriwether Post College (I think that was the name), in 1977. I had just graduated from high school, and was there for cross-cultural orientation before my AFS summer in Turkey. Anyway, my body clock was whacked out, and I got up at dawn and strolled around some campus paths. Bunnies! Lots of 'em! Long Island and bunnies just fit together to me.

there's a lot of detail in your photo. You can see the individual blades of grass!

I'm glad you guys liked her.

& Uselaine, your AFS summer in Turkey! very impressive background.
I'm glad you have fond memories of your brief stay here on LI. I too remember a lot more bunnies around here in those days as well.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

This made me laugh as there were rabbits hopping in a dream I had last night. This one certainly is a cutie.

What do you get if you pour boiling water down a rabbit hole?

Hot Cross Bunnies!
