it is not uncommon to see a street lined with yellow ribbons here on long island. I passed by this street recently and noticed they had just put up a bunch on all of the trees on their block. are they waiting for someone who just left for the war or is someone about to return home? I think the yellow ribbon is such an important symbol for people waiting for their loved ones. it is also an important reminder to me about what is happening in the world so very far away.

I wonder if the yellow ribbons on the trees were inspired by the Tony Orlando song or vice versa.
