shadows on the firehouse

please click on the firehouse to see more detail

every spring and fall when we change the clocks, many firehouses on long island post signs reminding everyone to change the batteries in their smoke alarms as well. I think that's a great idea. daylight saving time, I'm not so sure about. I must confess, I am not too keen on pushing the clocks forward. how about you? are you looking forward to daylight saving time? today's post is part of shadow shot sunday, australian time. if you'd like to see more shadows please visit hey harriet's over here.

I too don't find pushing the clocks forward so important. Why create a confusion unnecessarily? :)

Hey that's really cool because I can see only one flag, but two shadow flags! Magic!

Most of Australia has daylight savings except for the state that I live in. We had it as a trial one year a very long time ago but the farmers didn't like it. Apparently it confused the cows...

Japan's main island doesn't have daylight savings. I miss it. I don't need the sun to rise or set so early in winter! Cool shot!

What a wonderful old building, I'll be glad when the bits of snow are just a memory!

I love the shadow of the flag against the brick building...and you can see a reflection of it in the window !

I would rather just leave the clocks alone, it'll all even out!

Daylight savings time makes no sense. Many people will be leaving their homes for work in the dark again, where's the savings? PGma

Good shadow shot.
I hate getting used to the new time, but I do like having more light in the evenings.
I agree with Bhavesh. It seems an unnecessary confusion to make the change in the first place.

I really didn't know you have to change the clocks twice a year as we do! I agree with you: I find it a bit useless and very uncomfortable. :-)
What a wonderful shadow..and yes, I find this business of the clocks going ahead hard to get use to.
Back to the shadows..you did a wonderful job catching the flag..
Happy SSS..

Nice idea for SSS. I think we all hold fire stations close in our hearts since 911. I hate DST, I wish they would just leave it alone and let nature take it's course.

Thank you for the DS reminder! Lovely shadow shot. I'm crazy for brick buildings.
Great shadow this week - and no, we are not ready to give this hour up! We were chatting with friends tonight - and one broght up that we should just go back a half hour this weekend....then just leave it - ha! Well....it's an idea!

I am not a big fan of changing the clocks...seems unnecessary here where the light is strong anyway...nice shadow shot..

Your shadow shot made me smile. Nice one! And since I'm not an early riser, but am ALWAYS up when the sun goes down, I love the clocks change that allows more sun later in the day. I think it should be all year round.
