snow storm in march

please click on this photo to see more detail

though we are not really surprised, did anyone expect this much? we've had a bitter cold winter here on long island with manageable amounts of snow, but this is a big one. schools were closed and many businesses either stayed closed monday, opened late or closed early. we could all use at least one snow day a year, and this was perfect timing too. when everyone is really sick of winter, it's nice to get a break!
this is the big news over in my little corner of the world. if you'd like to see what is happening in other parts of the world, please go here thanks to klaus, the host of that's my world.

Some of the worst snowstorms I've ever seen have been in March, but I've never been in a New England one, so I can't even imagine. A day off is always nice, though.

Great shot! We've had more snow than Seattle has had in 30 years! As a result the city is not prepared for the mess we've had all winter -- everyone has had days off this winter! Even the postman!

That snowcannon looks so much more efficient than my shovel.

that's some very thick snow. I'd probably be buried underneath covers snoring away:)

Beautiful picture! I like very much the storms with strong wind and thunderbolts. :-)
I know what you mean. Enough with the cold already but thank you for the snow day. :-)

Won't it be great to have a special day off just for NO REASON whatsoever?

Maybe we can call it a "I don't feel like coming in today" day. :-)

There is a forecast of blizzards for Scotland but here it is just miserable cold drizzle.
Snow is far more photogenic.

It's not snowing here but it still freezing! I get a real case of blog envy when I read about 84 degree weather and blooming flowers. I'm still lighting fires in my chimney!

I love a good snowstorm when you can stay home and enjoy a big, very hot chocolate.

I was surprised about the snow storm. I'd just put away my snow boots when it started to snow. I had to pull them back out again. ;-)

As we only had the light dusting on the mountain I'm just envious, althoguh I appreciate it can cause havoc. It just looks so pretty.

Great shot. It was quite a storm. We even got about 7 inches down here where it rarely snows much.

we are all preparing for this snow storm. i hope all of us long islanders have made it through. it's really going to be a long week for this. Me and my family had prepared things for this kind of situations.

I faced the howling winds and blowing snow in mock defiance yesterday, my head adorned with earmuffs and my favorite Beach Boys cap!
Thankfully we haven't had a snowstorm yet this month, even though the winter was very harsh. I hope that this is the end of the bad weather for you!

We heard about the storms even down here. Of course I love snow because we never get any where I live. I would love to be transported right into that scene in your photo - with boots and mittens and a warm coat of course!

Yes, that's a lot of snow when you need the snowblower in March!
It's a pretty picture, but looks cold. At least you got the day off...
