pretty nails

this is where I like to go and get my nails polished. I don't go nearly as much as I would like, but judging from the surplus of nail salons in my neighborhood, many women get their nails done quite frequently. when you consider that I paid $24 for two manicures (I treated my dear mother) and a pedicure (mom didn't indulge) that is pretty reasonable for an hours worth of pure pampering. and while you are waiting for your nails to dry, the nice woman gives you a vigorous back rub.

Imagine my shock when I looked into indulging when I got back home this summer and just a manicure is between $18-25 here!Yikes!

It must be the competition around here that drives prices down. Also, I have heard that when the economy is bad,one of the first things people do is stop going to the beauty salon. So maybe the salons are forced to keep their prices low just to stay in business.

How nice to treat your mom! I think you got a good deal for the two of you. I'm in bad need of pedicure. ;-)

One of the first things I stopped doing once I retired, was having my nails done. I can pamper myself by doing my own nails. It's not difficult, and with the right products, looks just as professional!
