skywatch over jericho turnpike...

in mineola. it was hard to pick a photo for today. I happen to be in a place where there were lots of wide open spaces with big skies affording me multitudes of diverse photo ops. I picked this one because I liked the contrast between man made and nature. the sky looks to me as if it is pressing down on the traffic.

I also happened across this school field and its beautiful sky. which one would you have picked?

please go here if you would like to enjoy more skywatch photos from all around the world.

Awesome skies. Impressive clouds. Hard choice-glad you posted both. I would pick the first if I had to choose one.

Both images are very interesting. The first for the contrast between the street and the sky; the second for the green landscape.

hard to say, they are both beautiful!

The skies are huge and magnificent in both but I'd opt for the second just because it's got more green in it....

Those clouds look very ominous!!!

I love both pics! The sky in the first pic softens the wires and traffic! The second one is simply charming!
Forebodding skies and two impressive shots.

Please delete the "philippine lotto result" site it's just a scam.

They both work for me. Nice clouds.

My Sky Watch Friday blog is at my
Canon Pixels
blog. If you have time I would appreciate your having a look at the sky peeking through the oak tree leaves./a>

They are both beautiful and exciting. I pick Jericho Tpk.

Woud have been a hard pick! For me, I would have used both on different days, but that's because I'm coming into about 9 months of the same, clear blue sky every day, so I'm saving up for those days. Your top photo is more spectacular, but the bottom one is so nice because of the green, green grass.

I think I would pick the first one because I like the contrast between the dark clouds and the "bright" traffic.

The second one looks very "moody" but I like the first one better...if my opinion counts!

Impressive photos for sky watch friday, thanks for sharing your views of the horizon with us all. Both are lovely in their own way.

My favorite is the top one also. It looks like some crazy alien could pop over the edge of the clouds there and start picking up the vehicles to race across the wires- oops! my imagination got away from me!
I think the first one just though as they are both so nice.

I like them both!
But the second looks like a storm is brewing. Thanks for your visit and comment on my blog.

You know what? I don't know. I like the one with the sky pressing on the traffic, but the other one is good, too. I guess I'm glad you posted both of them!

the upper one is better focused than the lower, so I agree with you!

Jericho turnpike must be really, really long? We've run across is in our drives through LI to see Marks' mom

Your first choice is really great, I love that great white cloud. Boats and skies always go well together.

I've been on the Jericho turnpike, however, I don't think I had the time to stop and smell the roses.

I'm glad you posted both. They have a city/country contrast. The second one reminds me of an El Greco painting. Very beautiful.

The wires and the traffic give me the heeby geebies, so I'd pick the school yard, but both skies are beautiful!
Same sky to contrasting images. Somwtime being stuck in traffic has it's rewards, like a baeautiful image.

Both photos are really good but my favourite would be the second one, mainly because that is the sort of environment that appeals to me,I'm definitely not a lover of cities and traffic. :)
Why should I choose one , I take the two.

I am glad you picked both photos, each a very powerful image!
Nice catch..... Great job! Reminds me the saying,,,, We never know how high we are, till we are called to ris; and then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the sky... Happy Skywatch! Hope you can visit my SWF entry too...

Beautiful - both shots. I often marvel at the contrast between man-made and nature in Skywatch posts. Nicely captured.

Lots of big clouds that appear to have a purpose. Very pretty.

Both are quite nice. I had to smile when I saw Jericho Tnpk, as I grew up in the Syosset/Woodbury area & haven't been back in over 20 years. Jericho Tnpk brings back memories...

I think the 2nd one is my favorite. There's just something about the mix of the green earth and the sky, no matter if it's clear or cloudy, that I find beautiful.

The first one is my favourite, but they are both nice pictures.
Yeah it does seem the clouds were joining the traffic at the bottleneck area hahaha!

Very nice and it does look like the sky is pressing down on the traffic. Happy SWF!

Really great shots!
It amazing how someone could add power lines to a picture and have it look artistic.
I've looked at power lines and haven't yet come up with any thing.

I think I'd go for th first one, it looks like the war of the worlds is upon us and the people in all those cars are high tailing it out of there!
