soon there will be cherry pie

We have a lot of cherries again this year! Remember last year? Who would have thought the hours of pie preparation involved? Picking, washing, pitting every single one and then finally baking them. I shudder to think about the labor intensive work that lies ahead with regard to our yearly ritual. I know, it's not as if anyone is twisting my arm - but have you ever tried fresh out of the oven cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? If you haven't, than I highly recommend you do so asap.

Daryl, I would never make you do work for pie! I promise!
I really got a kick out of hearing everyone's love for cherry pie. I never really thought about cherry pie until I moved here & realized we had a cherry tree that produced a small crop of cherries every June. It wasn't until then that I ever ate a tart cherry. Prior to this I only sampled the standard deep red ones (which I love) that I'd get at the supermarket. Our backyard tree opened up a whole new world for me!
