yesterday my beloved sister in laws had something like 30 people at their house for christmas dinner. all the girls ate together in the dining room including daisy seen here above and ginger, who although you can't see her, she was just inches away barking at daisy. daisy seemed completely unfazed. all the boys ate in the kitchen. unfortunately there weren't any male dogs around to keep them company. here is daisy from last christmas.

snow and then freezing rain was the weather for yesterday. this morning everything was frozen like the arctic tundra. priscilla doesn't seem to mind though - she's hopping around the backyard like a bunny in springtime. yesterday on the way home, ian and I decided to take a quick detour around old westbury's hidden pond. and speaking of spring, here is the above in springtime.

we got our christmas tree last night. anthony was adamant about not spending more than $40.00. I'm so glad I cooperated. I was worried we would wind up with too small a tree. turns out starkies in farmingdale has a whole bunch of $40.00 trees! here's a tip, they all look smaller outside than they do inside. this year we used ian as our yard stick and it worked! sort of. the tree we now have in our livingroom is gigantic - and it was only 40 bucks.

it snowed yesterday! yay! sort of... anyway, I was in providence this last weekend to see a play ian wrote and directed (yes I am a very proud mamma) called life deprived. it was SO good. unfortunately I was more nervous than I realized and only took three pictures inside the theater - all of which were blurry! fortunately, his play went really well. the cast was amazing! Ian was also fortunate to have the supremely talented aaron whitman playing his very own original music throughout the play that fit the story of life deprived perfectly. below you can see my blurry picture of the writer/director himself. and above, is the yellow orchid at the coffee exchange, my favorite coffee shop to visit in providence - an ideal antidote for today's wintry weather. happy monday everyone!

does anyone ever get sick of looking at this building? you know which one I'm talking about right? I got a peek at her driving home from dropping ian at penn station last sunday. not to take away from the others, I find them all very well suited to each other.

whenever my best friend from childhood comes to new york she always makes time to go for long walks with me. yesterday, while taking our walk together at the massapequa nature preserve, she noticed this black squirrel and quickly captured the above image using her iphone. I have never seen a black squirrel on long island before so needless to say I was pretty impressed - with both my bff's observation skills as well as her quick use of her iphone camera. I scrambled to get the shot below but I like the close up one better since you can actually see that yes, this is indeed a squirrel.

it's hard to believe but after 18 years one of my favorite places I used to love window shopping at still exists on university place in greenwich village. they also still have the same monkey art on their window too, as seen in the photograph below.

last friday night I had the opportunity to see the bedlam theater company's saint joan, an off broadway play located in the village at the lynn redgrave theater culture project. I knew when I saw the above pictured quote in the theater's lobby, it was going to be a good night. the play was 3 hours long and it was excellent. the actors were amazing in their performances and by the end of the night I felt like I had been on a great adventure. the company is also running hamlet in repertory for twelve weeks only.
