happy thanksgiving everyone! and an answer...

a little late, it only took me a week to answer my last post's question! "walking to the sky", a sculpture by the artist jonathan borofsky stands on the carnegie mellon campus in pittsburgh.

can anyone guess what this guy is looking at it?

I'll give you two hints; he is standing in pittsburgh, and, this same piece was once installed at rockefeller center in 2004.

poppies for the veterans

just when I thought I had the blogging/home renovation thing under control, all hell breaks loose and I fall behind yet again. the good news is, things seem to be falling into place. more importantly, god bless our dear veterans. hope you all have a wonderful weekend! 

golden autumn leaves

merry christmas

the christmas season doesn't wait for the day after thanksgiving anymore - it officially starts the day after halloween.

p is for poughkeepsie

I happened upon this observatory at vassar, in poughkeepsie, new york while visiting the college earlier this autumn. due to its association with the first well known woman astronomer, maria mitchell, it's considered a national landmark. though no longer used as an observatory, it now houses the education department and classrooms.

day of the dead

an art lesson in discovering the "day of the dead" gives us an example of how children make sense of it all. I found this happy skeleton next to yesterday's witches. I like to think that my loved ones who have crossed over are happy where they are.
