winter 2011

Winter-2011-at-The-Bethpage-Golf-Course

does anyone remember last year when the snow didn't leave the ground from november 2010 until march 2011? and then when we had that freak snowstorm last halloween - I felt a shiver go down my spine as I thought, "here we go again!" then, nothing. it almost feels as though winter never happened this year.

You're right. Practically the same thing here, last year and this year.
It's going to be bad for prairie farmers, though, because there hasn't been enough winter moisture to create ground water to carry this desert area through the summer. The rivers will be low, too.

While these mild winters are great for our pocketbooks, nature really suffers when it doesn't got throught the true cycle. Awesome picture. I almost needed my sunglasses!

Yes I'm surprised by this year. The weather people had predicted a lot of precipitation but no. Weird.

This is a lovely and evocative image, Lily. I hope you are well!

That photo from last year is excellent.

And yes...seems like no winter this year...I heard a cardinal chirping outside my door the other morning when picking up the newspaper...seems like right to spring.

Glad to see you back.

Stunning image Lily. I have no idea what a real winter is, it just doesn't happen here in Perth.
