Rubbish-Disposal-and-The-Town-of-Oyster-Bay

when I was a kid, my family and I always referred to this place as "the dump". knowing I wanted to post this picture as soon as I shot it, I looked for the "proper" name of this locale only to find a sign outside the entrance that read "The Town of Oyster Bay". earlier this week I mentioned I had been cleaning out my basementI recently completed a lot of painting inside and outside of my house so I knew half of what I had accumulated down there were nearly empty dried out paint cans. anyway, as I made my  delivery of useless cans (along with other assorted obsolete electronics) to the "dump" this is what caught my eye. there is something about this scene that looks so neat and tidy to me - sort of like what my basement is starting to look like.
if you need to find out where you too can dispose of your unwanted rubbish, please visit the town of oyster bay's stop throwing out pollutants page here, aka the S.T.O.P. program.

I always admire these dump places which look always neat and tidy... I am in awe of what they are doing to tidy up in the evening once the place is closed to the public.

The last cleanup we did in the Town of Oyster Bay was my mom's house in Massapequa after the storm (hardly seems like almost a year ago, does it?). At that time, we just piled up anything and everything (from mattresses to matches) at the curb and the town sent huge pickup trucks around to collect it. Good luck with your cleanup efforts!
