Does anyone know the name of this lovely flower?

Such a beautiful ground cover that seems to propagate easily in the shade with the brightest yellow flower I think I've ever seen. As blustery as it has been, the sunlight has been beautiful during certain times of the day. This picture was taken earlier this morning.

No idea, but it is a sure sign of spring! You did those paintings? Gorgeous.

Maybe Lesser Celandine (common name),Ranunculus Ficaria (scientific name).

That looks like the bane of my existence, well at least my garden's existence. Vicki has it right--Lesser Celandine. It is impossible to get rid of. The little bulbs have a way of spreading, so that they end up in the lawn, in flower beds, everywhere. Herbicide isn't even an option, because they would just re-sprout from the little multiplying bulblets. I have given up trying to eliminate it, but try to keep it contained. I will admit it does look lovely in early spring.

Thanks Ladies! I actually love them too but do find them difficult to contain in the areas I would like. Is it just me or do plants really have a mind of their own?
