surfing on a wintertime atlantic



























standing on the boardwalk in longbeach last saturday, I noticed what I thought was a kite in the sky until I looked over to see there was a man attached to it while surfing! it was hard not to watch him, a few times he became airborne (with the help of his giant kite) as he navigated the rough waves. have you ever heard of people surfing in such cold weather? I am sure we could all agree this qualifies him as being the adventurous type. if you'd like to see other representations of the letter A, or if you'd like to add your own A representation, please visit 'abc wednesday'.

I see these same type of kite surfers at Plumb Beach in Brooklyn! They usually wear wet suits which keep the covered body pretty warm but it still must be cold on the feet and hands. They have to be young :)

«Louis» frequently sees these brave souls <a href="http://bayphoto.blogspot.com/2009/07/icarus.html>parasailing off of Albany Point</a>, but no doubt even in winter, the water is warmer here than where you got this shot!

It was 10 degrees at my home today. I can't even imagine getting anywhere near water!
