la bonbonniere

I love how this menu is designed from la bonbonniere, a diner in the west village in manhattan. below is a photo of the counter space there. it's got a cozy kind of atmosphere and the food is good too.

Ah, menus. The educational material of my childhood. To keep us quiet in restaurants, Dad had me and my brother proofread the menus. We were eagle-eyed and dedicated, and, in those days, could often find wrong font letters in the middle of words if the menus had been hand-set or even set on linotypes. The proofreader's mark for "wrong font" is "wf" which we, of course, pronounced "woof" - so other restaurant patrons would wonder about those Davies children who didn't talk a lot but barked periodically. Eventually Dad would take the menus away from us and give us nickels for the juke box.

For a minute there I thought they were only serving candy! I love old-fashioned diners.
That is most definitely the kind of place that I would enjoy eating in, nothing too fancy and which offers up good food.

great shot, love the menu art it reminds me of the 40's and 50's. So does the diner for that matter.

Lily -- you are clearly a diner maven of the first order. I'm sure you know every good one on LI—and in the Village too!

That's a really pretty menu. Sounds like a cool place to dine in.
I love diners. There's something old world and comfortable about them. The food is usually good and inexpensive.
