waverly restaurant in greenwich village, nyc

when I lived in the village this was our favorite diner. I remember walking there on cold snowy winter nights to get some dinner. it was always warm and cozy inside. I am happy it is still open so I can take my son there for lunch. the food is very good. isn't this a beautiful city corner?

Not only is this a beautiful corner, Lily, but you've captured it at just the right moment. I would say this shot has good composition. You've caught the people just right, and the cab adds a balance of bright color in just the right place. There's a sort of "L" shape to the photo, formed by its boldest elements (the building and the cab). Then it's complemented by the signs and the clock tower in the b.g. You also have contrasting people: the woman running, the couple smiling, the people walking away...

I'd say this is one of your best. You ought to be proud of it! It's like Eric and I were saying yesterday, *anyone* can take a snapshot. As I said I'm just learning, but it seems to me this photo was taken by a *photographer*.

I actually stood at that corner and snapped a bunch of different ones hoping I would catch some interesting activity. I picked this one because I liked it -very much for the same reasons you described!
I wish I could remember where I saw a comment about including people in the city daily photo blogs. It made start to want to try to do that more so as to give a sense of how the culture is around here. Thanks Petrea!
