first skywatch of july

please click on photo for more detail

finally, we have been having some real hot summer weather. though it's still raining quite a bit in between the bursts of sunshine. in fact a lot of my potted plants have died of root rot from being over watered by all the rain. on the plus side, a neat side effect of all this unpredictable weather is some awesome evening skies. this one appeared right before a wicked thunderstorm blew in.

if you'd like to see some more beautiful skies from all around this planet, please go here.
I hope everyone has a long weekend starting today.

special thanks to klaus & his skywatch team, sandy, ivar, wren, fishing guy and louise

Marvelous shot! Does look a bit ominous in a beautiful way -- not sure that makes sense, but that's the first thing I thought of! Have a great weekend!

I see some Maurice Sendak sort of creatures in those clouds. Beautiful skies!

It sounds like summer weather everywhere has been unusual. We live in a desert but you'd never know it this year. Great clouds!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blogs and commenting. Just wanted you to know that I'm from Long Island originally myself (a Levitt house in Westbury) and one of your gift shop pictures, the Old Westbury pond, was one of the places of my childhood. Great to see it again! I like your blogs a lot and am bookmarking you. Happy 4th!

Happy Sky Watch!
Beautiful shot of an sunny but unsettled sky. . . it looks like it's getting ready to rain again. I think we've made it all the way through the day today (the fourth) without any rain. . . amazing!

I love the photo of Bigelow's. We'll have to visit sometime!
