summer squash

are these leaves ginormous or what? if you look closely you can see the very weight of them are causing some of their stems to bend at forty-five degree angles. this is the first summer I have given up trying to grow vegetables. I grew tired of my "crops" rarely yielding more than two or three of anything. thankfully I am still semi successfully growing herbs and flowers since I so do love to play in the dirt.
remember the cucumbers I showed you last summer? this squash is from the same garden. so, have you ever grown a summer garden?

Great shot! Does remind me of when my kids were growing up, we lived in Montana and we had a fabulous garden -- small, but really produced a lot of great veggies plus pumpkins for the kids Halloween!

Looks like the oriental language link guy has been here and left gobs of links for others to click. I think it is a spammer.

Anyway./.

I stopped growing vegetables and my urge to eat something out of my backyard is now satisfied with berries and things like that. We used to grow vegetables here but the yields were not like the old days when we grew most of our foods.

Thank you very much for visiting my Brookville Daily Photo blog and for the comment you left me there.

Sigh. I'm absolutely useless with plants of any kind. I hope you get some good squash this year!

I wish you luck with your squash. I always get huge blossoms, and never any squash. I think this year will be the same. I have had lettuce this year, and my snow peas are delicious. So far, that's all. My beets look pathetic and carrots non-existent.

I will give you credit for trying...growing a garden seems to trying for me.

Hopefully, the squash will be appropriately palatable!

I admire anyone who tries to grow something. It looks like your squash might make it, though. I have almost black thumbs. But there's a lady around the block who grows the most amazing things every summer in raised beds. Radish, green beans, different types of squash, tomatoes of all kinds. And she gives so much of it away!

Sorry to mislead anyone, these fine squash are from my parents garden. If you follow the link, you can see a picture of it from last summer.
I wish these were mine, then maybe I would attempt to grow vegetables again!

I wish I didn't have such a brown thumb. :-)
Good for you that you make the effort to grow your own food. I imagine it's very rewarding to eat.

Those leaves are huge! I tried my first little veggie garden this year- I had tomatoes- about 4 a day for awhile, and a few peppers and exactly one ear of corn! :)

I planted yellow squash and they are tiny compared to this picture. I still have not had any squash grow, only flowers.
