A Very Vibrant Cherry

Cherry-Pie-Time

If you've been visiting here on a regular basis than you know it is a family tradition of mine to make cherry pie every spring once the cherries from our cherry tree are ripe. Hopefully this year there will be enough fruit  to do so. Sadly our tree has a fungus and though we are treating it we're not really sure what's going to happen. For now I am taking this one ripening cherry as a good sign.

I love cherries! but I got them from the supermarket since we can't grow them here due to our hot weather and lack of land. We import them from California and Chile.

That sounds delicious. I hope your tree survives. And also, you know I love seeing shots of my old Long Island (I'm an East Meadow native). It makes me feel like a kid again.

It's a beautiful photo, and I hope it turns into cherry pie.
I grew up in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, where the cherries were perfect on the first of July. We moved away when I was 16, but for years I would drive back up there for July 1 and "just happen" to visit friends who had cherry orchards.

You can never have enough cherries. I LOVE them, and we have planted two trees. Can't wait until we have enough to make a pie. Great shot, by the way.
