It reminds me of my old high school in PA. Well, as it used to be anyway.
I haven't seen Mineola, the County Seat, in years.
Very nice shadows against the building.

It must be nice to watch outside from those windows and think of the sunshine in between the trees on the field in front of the building.

Congrats on your anniversary!

Did they close the Mineola High School on Armstrong Rd in Garden City Park?

This is the old high school - and became the middle school (known back in the day as Jr. High). Old Jr. High was on Willis Ave in Mineola.

What a wonderful memory - I loved this "old" school.

I too am brought to memories of my old grade school, where I broke my front tooth on the veranda...ahhh, the memories...neat picture!

Excellent detail. Have you seen the New Hyde Park School? There are separate entrances for Boys and Girls with signs to that effect.

Oh, that's a great shot and beautiful shadows. The school reminds me of my high school -- and I can actually remember that far back!!! However, it was in west Texas, so we didn't have trees! Happy SSS!

Lovely capture I love the tree shadow high above the building. I took a photo outside a High School as well!

I like how the tree's shadow on the right just towers over the school. Great shot!
what a great shot! reminds us of our HS....it was torn down several years ago for a new school.
Love the trees in front with bigger tree shadows towering over them!

This is the sort of high school that we should be building today, instead of the cheap and nasty structures which sprout up overnight without souls. Love it.

I like the warm light and shadows on the school. Looks a lot like my old junior high school.

Love that photo! And I am so glad that the tree is outside the school. Last year when I was in NY, my daughter and I came upon a school, where there were trees growing out the windows! Obviously abandoned !

It's such a warm photograph, I have expect to see girls in pony tails and boys in dungarees outside. Happy SSS!

Love the rich browns in this photo. The stenciled tree shadows are always a favorite of mine.

That's a charming looking high school. Mine looked nothing like that one. The shadows are so delicate and soft looking! Beautiful photo :)

I like old fashioned schools too, the new ones look like prisons or warehouses

the trees are wonderful!

Gorgeous shadows. I love the warm color of the brick building with the blue sky above, too. Nice capture.
Hello, its a great picture of the school in shadow and brings back memories, as I graduated from Mineola High school in 1965. I just wanted to let you know that the school you photographed has not been our high school since 1961. It is what we alumni call "the old high school". The "new high school" was built in late 1961, and is still the high school used today. The building you photographed is now and has been since 1961 the intermediate school. check us out at forums.delphiforums.com/mhsmustangs, where you can see pictures of both schools.
