bigelow's is my dad's favorite place to get clams so we established a special tradition where we go here every year for his birthday. this year two of his grandsons came along which made it extra special.

We used to be able to dig clams by the bucketful on the west coast, take them home, add some oatmeal to the water so they'd eat it and spit out the sand, and the next day...fresh clams in melted butter.
Can't do that any more. Red tide. So sad. But going to find clams at a restaurant once we hit the west coast this week.
A wonderful tradition for your dad and the family. My dad would have approved wholeheartedly.
