f is for friends

these two weren't too friendly to me but they seemed to like each other a lot. as soon as I started to walk towards them they started to walk away. it was kind of cute how they waddled when they walked. I was almost tempted to try and get them to fly, but fear got the best of me when I noticed I was outnumbered. plus, these guys are quite large.

James, It looks like just two, but there were a whole flock off to the left. They must be close friends because they stuck together like glue.

Birds are kind of hysterical when they're on the ground. They always seem to be looking around for an escape. Although, I hear geese can be quite fierce.

Besides people, Canada Geese are the most visible creature in my home city of Pickering Ontario.

You were right to leave the geese alone. Remember the old saying, 'Let waddling geese waddle.' :)

Great shot - We have lots of Canadian Geese that love our backyard at our Beach house. I don't like the "mess" they leave however.

Very sweet photo. The Canadian Geese used to hang out on our school grounds in the winter (they probably still do, but I don't) and the kids would come in from recess with goose poop all over the bottom of their shoes. What a lovely memory, huh?

You can't blame the geese for being leery, seems like they are always getting chased or shot. Local Pilots of small planes are not happy about them. They were here first. :-)

Great shot, Lily! But as a few wise folks have already mentioned, you were probably right to keep your distance—geese can be VERY nasty (as I say to my kids, this is the voice of experience speaking)!

A nice picture, they usually aren't friendly at all, to us.

Did they forget to fly south? I hope someone is feeding them.

In New Zealand, the gannets who get left behind die on the cliffs because their friends have flown to warmer Asutralia. Not a pleasant sight.
