today is memorial day observed in the united states. it's not unusual to see united states veterans collecting donations outside of grocery stores for their fellow servicemen in need. anyone who makes a donation is given a paper poppy. a small slip of paper attached to the poppies read; 'proceeds to the veterans of foreign wars for veterans assistance programs'. a note of thanks to this veteran for allowing me to take his picture to share on my blog, I'm sorry I didn't get your name & thank you for your service.
