an evening in manhattan...

please click on this photo to see heather up close

it isn't unusual for many long islanders to experience. last night I took the five fifteen train into the city along with many hockey fans wearing rangers' jerseys. we parted ways at penn station when I left on the # 1 train heading downtown. I arrived at barnes & noble half an hour early, listened to a great reading by none other than heather b. armstrong herself, from dooce.com fame, got my book signed and I was back on the train & home by 8:15. this is one of the things I love about living here, there are so many things to do and a lot of them are free.

Oh, no! Not another favorite! Now you've made me go and add another to my long, LONG Favorites List, AND move it right up to the top. Ms.Armstrong is SO good!

Seriously, thanks for introducing her to me, or me to her, or whatever.

By the way, that is a great photo you took.

An avid reader, I have not been to a good book signing in years. The last one featured campy mystery writer / troubador Kinky Friedman at the Barnes and Noble store on
6th and 22nd here in town.

I didn't know she'd written a book, but I'll bet hearing her speak was fun!

That is a nice quick jaunt. For us in Connecticut, Manhattan is really a day trip. Always worth it, but always requiring that bit of effort.

Thanks Pietro!

Thank you too Bobbie. & I should add you have shown me a wide variety of interesting bloggers so I am only too happy that I have told you about at least one!

Thank you Bhavesh

Morty, aren't book signings the greatest? I find authors to be such interesting speakers. & thank you for your kind words about my anniversary. I always look forward to your comments, when you have the time. I am glad to hear your work is relentless. That is good news.

Thanks dear Daryl. & I wonder, was there a metro hike today?

Janie, Heather said she just recently has been starting to get recognized in the supermarket. & yes her talk was great, she is very funny.

Hi Sandy, yeah, I suppose the trip varies from town to town- I'm only 40 minutes away.
