nyssma

please click on this photo to see more detail

nyssma is the new york state school music association. every spring this professional organization evaluates student musicians throughout new york during the annual nyssma festival. my son participated yesterday and was scheduled to perform at the garden city high school. parents are left outside the classroom while the students play or sing their piece in front of an adjudicator that evaluates their performance. it is always exciting to see all the young dedicated musicians waiting for their turn to play.
this is a part of my world that I feel fortunate to be a part of. to see what is going on in other parts of the world, please go here and visit klaus's always interesting 'that's my world' meme.

Ahh, I remember the NYSSMA days! My daughter played the cello for many years. I remember how nervous she would be before her turn...and how BRUTAL it was for me, to have to stay out in the hall and not be able to listen!
