skies and other interesting things

while waiting at a red light in traffic I love to have my camera ready so I can spy different scenes through its viewfinder. jericho turnpike is a good place to do this because every time you drive down it, you notice something new. first this particular group of buildings caught my eye.
interesting to look at, don't you think? click on the photo if you'd like a closer look.

then I noticed the tops of these same buildings and how pretty the sky looked as their backdrop, even with all the wires involved. the wires seemed to add a certain something to the scene.
after which I noticed this design in the sky, as seen in the photo below. I love the colors and shapes and different textures.

today is skywatch friday, if you'd like to see more skies from all around the world or if you'd like to add your own sky, please go here, thanks to klaus and his team, sandy, wren, fishing guy, louise and sylvia

Nice touch to include the close-ups, Lily! They are all lovely ~ and that naked tree behind Ardito's adds much character.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a nice comment. She's a silky terrier. Quite similar to yorkie, only slightly larger in size. Pets have such amusing antics, don't you think? :-)

Street scenes can be quite interesting, so often we just pass by without looking closely. I wonder if those one storey buildings were infill, since they are not as decorated as the two storey ones.

ooops, I forgot the skies!
I was staring at the wall of that house. It has a beautiful facade but the side is 'raw' or 'naked'.
I've seen those before abroad but never in Finland. You're not allowed to build like that...

Have a great weekend!

I notice that of these four businesses, the salumeria and the gun store are the ones left to hold down the fort (so to speak). I wouldn't mind if the gun store became, say, an ice cream parlor, but Ardito's should stay forever. Great shot!

The clouds do make wonderful patterns. And those buildings are very interesting. Jericho Tpk. offers all kinds of interest.

An interesting series of views beginning with the long shot, then getting closer and closer to the near abstraction of the pole itself and its intricate wiring!

Jericho Tpke in that area is very ethnically diverse, lots of different stores represent that area. Great assortment of businesses, they also decorate for the holidays. It's kind of like it was before the 'big box' stores. You can get items there you cannot get elsewhere.PGma
