Massapequa Preserve

I love riding my bike down this path - it's the quickest way to get into the woods without having to drive if you live in Farmingdale. I've posted about the Massapequa Preserve many times on this blog with my most recent post of the preserve being here where you may notice a definite absence of the color green. A lot changes in nature in just one month. Thinking of the floods in Nashville and the oil spill in the Gulf, I feel exceptionally grateful our little piece of paradise is preserved.. at least for today.

It's always so heartening to find wild nature in the midst of urbanization.

Lovely place, it would be so peaceful to ride or stroll there. I am happy to get the chance through your blog to see the opposite coast, we really are quite alike in many ways.

This is beautiful, Lily! Can you believe I grew up in Massapequa and have never been here? (On the other hand, my dad used to run here every day.) Thanks for sharing this image!
