have you ever noticed how quiet it can be in the woods? it always amazes me when I find an outdoor public space that is relatively quiet here on long island. I hope you've been enjoying my photos of the massapequa preserve. I have a few more coming up for this weekend. I was there last sunday again and the remaining autumn colors looked especially beautiful against the blue sky.

You're right, the noises of the city seem to disappear along with the cares of the city. Isn't it wonderful?

It;s beautiful there Lily! Someday I'll ahve to take a drive and visit the Massapequa preserve. I just hate all the traffic on the Belt Parkway as bridge construction is being done.

Yes the woods and the wilderness always offer solace and tranquility, peacefullness which we feel not anywhere else. Your photos are always awesome!
I've always loved the kind of quiet that you can only find in the woods and somehow, it's always there, regardless of what else is going on! Beautiful capture, Lily! Hope your week is going well!

Beautiful colors, beautiful photo!
So beautiful and so true. That squiggly tree makes the photo!
Beautiful shot! Even my energetic girls quiet down when we are out in the forest. They really love it and I think we all just savour the quiet.

The perfect, quiet spot. So pretty.
Wow! So tranquil.
I would say Heavenly but it's more down to Earth beauty for this one.
