it always amazes me how wildlife adapts so easily to frigid temperatures. what isn't evident is the nice couple on the shoreline feeding these guys a lunch of some sort out of a bin they held down for them to freely reach into with their beaks.
Last time I fed swans, they tried to reach up on the dock and steal my martini (don't ask(!). The other day I took pics of ducks in a frozen lake and marveled at the way they adapt to freezing temps. And this is a great group shot, Lily!
You have heard of LI & its many stereotypes? You wonder if they may be true but wish not to risk visiting in the event that they are. Be bold then & visit me daily & I promise I will show you many sides of Long Island that you will be both amazed & inspired by.

I was just wondering the same thing today when I saw pigeons 'barefoot' in the snow. Like the symphony of swams and ducks here.
