Farmingdale's Dairy Barn
Notice how this building is painted red just like an old fashioned barn you'd see in the country - only this isn't the country and this isn't a real barn. Dairy Barn is a drive through convenience store people frequent when they need to get something they need like milk, a loaf of bread or some ice cream. Maybe they just don't want to take the time to park their cars or wait in line at the supermarket in their pajamas. Whatever the case may be, I have seen them here on long island since I was a kid.

And I thought I had seen it all when I saw the multitudes of drive-through daiquiri bars in southern Louisiana.
What happened to the law against drinking and driving?
Pietro I can't wait to go back to Italy!
Lydia, drive up wedding chapels??? I'm so glad I posted this so I could hear about these other interesting places!
Good eye Bill, it is the one on Merrits road, how did you know? You just gave me an idea to take my son there just so he could see what it's like to patronize one. We haven't been there since he was real little.
Only in the South: Here, officer, hold my beer while I dig out my driver's license....

"Louis" appreciates your support of his cousins working to supply the dairy industry...
I know what you mean Morty. This morning I decided to start photographing ever Dairy Barn I see before they all disappear. I managed to get a good shot of one over on Broadway in Massapequa. I know there is one in Merrick and one in Huntington as well.
Sadly, they don't do that anymore. I think there was a fire where they did the bottling and they never did it again.
I recognized the ugly building next door. I always hated that building, even when I was a kid.
We were at that Dairy Barn all the time. And I remember how disappointed I was the first time I we went and I didn't see any cows.
I go to the one on Main St. in Sayville now. Old memories come alive...
drive-through convenience store... what's next... :-)

Luvmyboys, yeah, you know I remember those glass bottles too now that you mention it.They really added a bit of authenticity to the whole idea.
Bill, you have a great memory. I'm glad you are commenting here because you are triggering mine. You may not believe this but you reminded me of how I thought there would be cows there too.
I'll have to go photograph the one in Sayville now as well.
I'm glad everyone found this interesting. It has been really fun reading your comments.
