this is the type of movie you think about again and again after you leave the theatre. and although I shed lots of tears and I had a huge lump in my throat towards the end and then again at the very end, this movie was not your typical tear jerker. in fact, for me, it was all a bit bizarre and thought provoking, and yet a totally unique movie. this is probably why it was the best movie I have seen in a long time. a word of caution, this is not exactly a children's movie.
thanks babzy for recommending I post the trailer! it's right here.

I'll have to check it out. I like bizarre and thought provoking films :)
I like very much the Maurice Sendac's chidren book, the french title of the book is "Max et les maximonstres !!! It had a great succes in France too, for sure i will go the the movies ! You should post the movie trailer:)
This one's been a long time in the making and I'm hearing many good things about it. The illustrations in the book are stupendously glorious.
I have not seen it, but would love to. Sendac is a favorite of mine.
The NY Times review was less taken with it than you but they did agree its not a childrens movie per se ... and I did hear one person in a shop I was in say that the book was better .. honest!
It's on my list.
One of my kids' (and my) fave books when they were little. The more I hear about this movie, the more intrigued I am.
I loved it. I couldn't stop crying at the end, glad I wasn't the only one!
Looking forward to seeing this one. The book was scary....
