every wednesday evening people in our neighborhood put out recycling bins for thursday's morning pick up by the town's sanitation department. as I stopped to take a picture of this nearly overflowing bin, I thought of all the space this same trash used to take up in a landfill somewhere.
today's post is part of "think green thursday" thanks to host michelle from rambling woods. please go here and check out her neat tips for a green halloween. or if you'd like, post a green idea of your own and share it with the rest of us!

I hope it just doesn't go to a landfill. I know that some shoes and jackets are made from recycled plastic bottles and bags!
its good to see recycling going on at people's doorsteps...
I enjoyed visiting you.
Hurray for recycling!
Yes, it IS good! When I visit my cousins in SW VA, I'm still surprised to see food, glass, plastic, paper all going into the same bag.
Good picture. So typical of life on Long Island.
Thank you for the kind words yesterday ;)
I love recycling, I try and recycle as much as I can and it has really reduced the amount of garbage we put out on garbage day.
Recycling - when inforced - is a very good thing ..
Recylcing is a good thing for our planet, as more and more communities are recognizing. Good post.
Imagine if we all recycled that much.
Hello Lily..I like to see this and our town requires that you recycle also. I hate to see all the bottles and cans that people must throw out of their car windows as they drive. Thank you for participating in Thinking Green Thursday... Michelle
