I Love This Place




























The Nature Conservancy has a beautiful hiking trail at the Uplands Farm Nature Sanctuary in Cold Spring Harbor. It is so incredibly peaceful there. Anyone can drive over and wander around the trails. One early sunday morning I spotted a fox. He stood against the brush like a statue as the morning sun lit up his red fur.
I took this same photo last March when I first started this blog. Go here to see what a difference a couple of seasons make.

Quite a difference! It is a very beautiful spot now. I hope the same will be true of South Cape Meadows, near us. It used to be very beautiful until about a year ago, when Nature Conservancy decided to "improve" it. Today it is looking barren and bare. Most of the water fowl have returned, but it's pretty sad looking. I hope that time will restore it. Doubt I'll see it happen though, since they have also decided to charge people to come now, and I can't afford it. It used to be my favorite spot.

That's a really cool photo, but even cooler when you see it compared to the winter version. What a great idea to compare the two!

Oh Bobbie, that is sad to hear. I would be so upset if I found that happened here. I hope things improve. Hopefully there is a method to their madness.
