congratulations bobbie! you have won the giveaway! my son pulled your name out of a hat
filled with twenty contestants-I know, we are so modern! for those of you who may not have heard of bobbie's thoughtful and thought provoking blog, "almost there", you may want to check it out here. she always has something interesting to share whether it be a personal story or some important news that may be helpful for her friends to know. & between her toonlets and her savage chicken comics, bobbie also likes to share a good joke. I don't know how bobbie found my blog, but I am sure glad she did so I could find hers. thanks for always leaving comments bobbie, I hope as a former long islander, you will enjoy the calendar.
and thanks again everyone for participating too!

today's weekend reflection is a bit ironic. this photo of traffic congestion was taken on old country road in garden city. I see nothing here that remotely suggests any resemblance to an "old country road" or a "garden". although I do have to say I thought the building reflecting the sunset is quite beautiful amongst the traffic.

today's post is a part of "weekend reflections" hosted by james over at newtown area photo. please go here if you would like to join in the fun. happy saturday everyone.

It is a lovely reflective wall of setting sunlight. What is also interesting to this Australian is how similar much of the rest of the photograph is to scenes here in Sydney. The roadsigns are the same green. I guess they try to sychronise them world wide. We have very few of those yellow overhead traffic lights left. I cannot think of any in Sydney.

Wonderful to pour over this image looking for similarities and differences.

Thank you.

Thank you so much!! I will enjoy the calendar, I know. And thank you for all those kind words! I enjoy your posts so much, as I will the calendar, identifying scenes I remember so well and that you portray so beautifully.

Beautiful sunset reflection in the windows as you sit in traffic for the drive home. Looking at your photo reminds me how happy I am to be retired ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

The glory of nature shines on the daily cacophony of the traffic jamb commute. Very nice reflection.

Congrats to Bobbie, and awesome reflection, Lily!
Sadly, I can still dredge up a memory of Old Country Road when it really did look like one—but that was true of almost all of Long Island many many years ago.

Great sunset reflection. And when enlarged, there are even more reflections of the traffic and car lights. Nice capture. Kathy

Lily, I like very much this picture. Beautiful the modern building together with the cars and the traffic-lights.
