when my son was in middle school he participated in daffodil days, a nationwide program that raises funds to fight against cancer. each student would buy flowers to give to special people in their lives and the proceeds went to the american cancer society. ian always gave the flowers to his teachers (which made me very proud). since they are among the first flowers of spring, I love the idea of using daffodils as a symbol of hope.

At first I thought that daffodil was in your garden and I was so jealous! It is a tradition around here too. A good thing for kids to be aware of.
