long island lighthouses

Lighthouse-Keeper's-Dwelling-at-MOntauk-Point

inside the lighthouse keeper's dwelling at montauk point, there are all sorts of interesting displays. this one is a map of long island that shows all of the different lighthouses across the island. here you can see the young girl and woman pushing buttons that turn the lights on inside the miniature lighthouses so that they can identify where they are on the map. I never knew long island had so many lighthouses.
if you look carefully you can see the map reflected onto the plexiglass that surrounds this display.
if you'd like to see more reflections or add your own to the mix, please check out james of newtown area photo's wonderful 'weekend reflections' meme. thank you James!
I'd also like to thank ian for capturing this wonderful image and allowing me to use it here.

that must have been fun.
It's funny to think such simple technology was all we had not long ago
Hope you're having a good weekend, Lily!

I remember this .. a friend's family owns a house there and I've been lucky enough to spend several weekends enjoying the far end of the Island
