two years ago today I started long island daily photo after spending several days visiting eric tenin's paris daily photo. to say the least, eric tenin is a great inspiration to me as well as to many other daily photo blogs. thank you eric!
recently I have had the good fortune to add a couple of sponsors to my blog. this would not have happened had I not had the privelege of so many of you visiting me and stopping by to say hello. as a way of saying thanks for all of your kind words and encouragement I am celebrating this blogoversary with a giveaway. all you have to do is leave a comment on this page and you will be enetered to win a sheet of stamps from my zazzle gift shoppe (over on the sidebar there) and five greeting cards of your choosing from any of the photos on my site. the giveaway ends monday at midnight and the winner will be announced shortly after. good luck!
on another note, today is weekend reflections hosted by james of newtown area photo. todays picture is of one of the 3,000 sumps that reside on long island. their purpose is to collect rainwater from road sewers. many years ago my friends and I ice skated here when one winter the water froze over. guess who fell in?

It's so interesting how Long Islanders forget that Nassau and Suffolk are not alone on Long Island. It's like L I begins at the end of the Queens line. That is one great picture, the reflections of the homes etc. in the water are neat.

When they say island, they mean it...a little scary with global warming don't you think. I wish they would come up with an alternative for concrete and asphalt in the parking lots, so the rains would go right through...some day...I been doin' this 2 years in April, where does the time go, but boy haven't we met some great peeps!!!
well I think you do a great job showing and telling about your place on earth. as I participate in several challenges I get to see so many wiews from all over the world in the same time as I improve my photoskills ( I think,,,)

Loved your picture & story - never really heard of sumps before - sump pumps in the basement, but no outside sumps to ice skate on in the winter - love to learn something new!!

I sort of consider us 2 yr olds the 2nd generation...1st being Eric, and Kim of Seattle, and Jazzy...and many others of course. My 2nd is coming up in mid-May.
