the vatican museum is filled with treasures. the grounds are kept beautifully and despite the amount of tourists that are continually filing through the halls and open air courtyards, it is fairly quiet. I wish I had photos of the sistine chapel to show you but photography was strictly prohibited. here is a piece of art that was just outside the first courtyard we passed on our way to the galleries.

How magnificent is that?! And I'm always relieved to see fig leaves. It's a lovely scene, Lily - the little bit of shrubbery sets it off beautifully.

Thanks Janie. The Sistine Chapel was my favorite. It is quite a walk through all of the galleries (with more beautiful art) until you get to it, but oh so worth it. If I could, I would do it again tomorrow!
I too was impressed by the preponderance of after-the-fact fig leaves at the Vatican museum!
Thanks for leaving this picture. I just got back from Italy and I have a picture of this too, the problem is I can't find any information on it. Other than our pictures, I was beginning to believe I imagined it. When I find out the name, I'll leave it for you...unless you've already got it.
