long beach

long beach is actually the name of this town where you will find this beautiful scene. I didn't notice one person on this entire stretch of sand until I enlarged this photo. there looks like one is sitting in a beach chair all by themselves! the boardwalk was barely busy. I am sure the year round residents relish this time of year when they get their beach town back to themselves. it was so peaceful sitting on the bench yesterday, eating breakfast with a view of the ocean. the sunshine made the sand seem extra white.
the cargo ships below are even more interesting if you click on the photo to enlarge. doesn't the water look like a precious jewel?

today is abc wednesday thanks to mrs. nesbitt, and the letter for the day is L. please go here to join in the fun.

Wow! Amazing to find this beach like this at any time of the year. I have friends who had an apartment facing this beach, but have never seen it so empty. Nice capture, Lily!

Oh what a life of luxury to have that huge beach all on your own. The cargo ships do add a lot to your ocean view.

I love the photo of the cargo ships.
The beach scene bothers me. Just too empty.
I have very fond memories of Long Beach.

wow, what a beautiful stretch of sand? I like Long Beach, my time there was generally very peaceful. It doesn't get as crowded as some of the other beaches.

That is really one long beach. I can see a bunch of Buddhist monks there with rakes, making it into a patterened Zen garden!
Hi Lily

The sand looks like sugar! This time of the year is great for beachcombing.

What amazing landscapes, Lily!
That wide beach with the white sand and the view of the ocean with the ships are really fantastic.
I've been to Long Beach once, a couple years ago one summer. It's an amazing beach; something I never expected to find so far up north.

I love how the sun sparkles on the water. Amazing how much beach there is, with only one lone person on it.

I had no idea Lily that you had beaches as beautiful as ours. This one is stunning indeed and the photo is fantastic.
Our beaches are often empty - perhaps because we have so many of them; being an island too, albeit much bigger. lol

I grew up in LB, graduated LB High School in 1960, but moved to Berkeley in '68. Haven't been back in decades. But that picture of the white beach brought back memories of long summers, and teenage angst, along with sunburn and a mouth full of salt water. One of my beach pictures (from one of those trips "home" in 1970) is at: All I've Seen.

Post more Long Beach pictures, please!
