massapequa preserve

how hot was your weekend? it was exremely hot on long island and it seemed like you either needed to stay in air conditioning or you had to be somewhere near water in order to endure the heat.
this was the massapequa preserve yesterday around ten am. I rode my bike there to get some exercise. when I stopped for a water break on a small bridge this was my view.

I hate to tell you how our weekend was! We had brilliantly blue skies and the high was 78! It was gorgeous! Wish I could send you some! Have a great week, Lily! Stay cool!

so very green!

We were sweltering here, of course. It became suddenly better yesterday and we had our walk through Prospect Park.

Glad you survived it!

One of these days I have to get out that way? We're always taking my son out to different parks, etc. on the island. I'd love to check this out. Where in Massapequa is it?

Hi Sylvia, it's so much cooler today, it's such a relief.

Hi Kitty, I was wondering how you city folk were holding up.

Fred, My thoughts exactly...LoL!

Hey Morty,
There are many access points to the preserve. I think the ones near Masssapequa Park are the nicest areas & have the most recent improvements with benches and stone walkways by the water and newly paved pathways to use for exercise. It really is a great place to walk or ride bikes with children. I will be posting more about it tomorrow. If you type Massapequa Preserve into my search bar a couple of links will pop up with more info as well.

The preserve is turning into a swamp where it was a large pond. It used to be filled with all kinds of water birds. Must be lack of rain. PGma

So much green and so much heat! Haven't been here in ages. My dad used to run here every day, no matter what the weather was like.
