suspicious activity?

as I drove toward this toll booth the other day I couldn't help notice the sign (upper right) asking those who see any suspicious activity to call the one eight hundred number. this september it will be nine years since 911 and I still haven't gotten used to signs like this, reminders of a day we shall all never forget.

Lily—Even without extra precautions like this (and they're everywhere), I'm reminded every day by what I DON'T see as I cross the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan.

Even being as far from NYC as I was, living in Portland, OR, on that day in Sept. I will never, ever forget it. Great post for the day, Lily! Hope you have a wonderful week!

Great photo. Signs asking for people to snitch? If I see someone robbing a bank or carrying a bomb, sure I'll call the police. But other than that, everything and everyone looks suspicious to me - I could be on the phone all day.

9/11 made us a bit paranoid but in some way, it's a good thing. what happened on 9/11 made us aware of our surroundings.

I took 9/11 personally. I hope I always do. I also take the bombing of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, and everywhere else personally. I always will. The world is full of cowards, Lily. But, ironically, they make us stronger.

Great photo. I think about 911 all the time, I can imagine it is much harder living so close to where it happened.

Alexa, how do you ever get used to not seeing something that was such an integral part of the landscape?

J Bar - without a doubt nature can be the best remedy.

Wolynski, as could I - I once asked a railroad employee to check out a 'suspicious' package. He scooped it right up and threw it out. I felt my heart skip a beat.

Luna, I guess it's hard to tell what we may have prevented.

Fred, I took it personally too.

Marlene, I often wonder how people far away were effected. I imagine it was very difficult for those who lived far away from loved ones that had friends or family living near the attacks.

9/11 was an awful day! I have pictures of myself and my kids taken when we visited the top floor of one of the towers on a long ago vacation and I can barely look at them without getting a little weepy.

I still remember the months after 9/11 when the sound of a plane in the sky would make me flinch and duck.

It is a sad reminder to see that sign, but the sky beyond is absolutely gorgeous.
