gifts from god

this post is dedicated to my grandmother, a native long islander for ninety two years, may she rest in peace. pictured here is a christening gown my grandma made for my baptismal. only in this photo you see my son wearing it for his baptismal. grandma also knitted the blanket my son was laying on. there is more history regarding this christening gown than family tradition though. my grandfather worked for grumman. founded in 1929, grumman's was the largest single corporate employer in long island during the cold war. in the early sixties when my grandfather worked there, my grandmother entered this christening gown in a competition sponsored by grumman and she won first place. I was always so proud of her for that.
today we are laying my grandmother to rest. please god bless her and everyone else who is mourning a loss.
R. I. P. Grandma, we love you.

Lily,

I am so sorry for your loss. Grandma sounds like an incredible who led a fulfilling life. What a beautiful gown she created and how blessed the world was to have her here.

oh dear. I'm so sorry to you, Lily and your family for your loss.

Grandparents are wonderful, and the loss is no less felt when our loved one is older.

Your photo is lovely.

Beautiful, Lily. She sounds like someone deserving of the pride you had in her. She was an artist and passed that down to you.
My sympathy during the holidays...
