toasty warm bagels at fairway
if you live in or "on" long island you can count on delicious bagels being one of the fringe benefits. I absolutely love the bagels at fairway. I usually go around 8 am & they always seem hot from the oven. like the apples I posted about here back in november, just looking at these beauties make you want to eat one while driving home. can you tell poppy seed is my favorite? where do you get your bagels?

We do have a place that comes close. Nothing ever matches them, but close.
When I used to drive up to L.Il to my daughter's, I would always stop for bagels on the way, Also made a stop in Wantagh for a lemon ring cake at Gerst's Bakery on Merrick Rd.
A few months ago, I was in a small grocery in NJ and they had bialy's. It was my first one since I left LI - it tasted so very, very good. While at a friend's, I made mention of it and they asked - what is a bialy?
I still dream of the bialy with cream cheese and lox from the Northport Deli.
we adore this place too, as you know. They have everything you could possibly need and aren't pretentious
Just like folks live on Cape Cod or live on Martha's Vineyard or live on Shelter Island, or on Gilligans's Island, or on Block Island....
Nobody lives in Long Island. Using the word *in* seems to be an error made by out of towners writing classified ads to run here, or by people with bad grammar.
Not that you have bad grammar, I just don't want to see this trend gain momentum.
Both go so well with a nice cup of coffee, Sunday papers and nothing to do for the rest of the day.
