first flowers

pansies are the first flowers one can bring home from your local nursery to plant in the ground or in pots here on long island in the earliest days of spring. they are considered cool weather favorites that last up until early summer. since their petals are edible, you can also use them to decorate salads & cupcakes. I brought home this flat last week and felt lucky to get them planted before last weekend.
